What Are Life Skills?
What are Life Skills ?
A lot of other trainers focus on sit, stay, down, obedience work. They certainly have a place, don't get me wrong !

But, there is more to dog ownership than teaching those common behaviours ! We want our dogs to have life skills to be able to navigate our complex world.

What are some example life skills ?
Recall
Loose lead walking
Vet visits
Car travel
Cooperative care
Disengagement from distractions and neutrality
Household manners
Visitors
Confidence
And much more !!!

Why does Wise K9 feel these are important ?
Dogs and owners need to learn these life skills.
Let's walk through an example topic: You may think you don't need to work on vet visits, you've got a happy-go-lucky, healthy adolescent, who loved the vets !

But, then perhaps you have a visit where your dog has a very sore paw and you and your dog didn't have the skills to help them in the situation.

Your dog's sore paw caused them to be more reluctant with the vet, they even snapped at the vet because they were sore.
In the situation your dog needed a muzzle popping on for safety, your dog became even more stressed and now your dog doesn't like to see the vet.

Whereas, if you went to a class on vet visit and Co-operative care, you would have learnt skills on how to do muzzle training, strategies on cooperative care to let them lead the care, and also strategies if they have a stressful time at the vets.
Making the whole experience better.

How does the class work ?
Classes at 60 mins (£12 per session), pay as you go.
The topics change routinely, some topics are just 1 session of learning, some are larger sessions and span a few weeks.

You simply sign up for the sessions you are interested in.

Where to find the topics?
